Well kids, guess what time it is? Its the eve of my first official training week for the Louisville ironman, and i'm pretty excited and scared at the same time. Tomorrow consists of a rest day, which i am excited about. But then tuesday involves time on the bike, which should be fun after celebrating New Years with friends. But I feel ready to finally get things started. The only thing that really scares me is the swim, which i hope to get over by june.

Besides the start of training, things have been pretty exciting around the condo. Christmas treated me really well. I ended up being extremely surprised with an awesome set of aerobars, a cycleops trainer, aerodrink bottle, a speed/cadence sensor, a wedgebox and some other exciting gifts. I was also able to upgrade my garmin 205 to the 305. So christmas was pretty good to me.

Cookies All Gone!!!!

So, Phog Allen, aka Macgyver or the cookie monster, has recently gotten himself into a lot of trouble. In the past 2 days, barb and i have come home to torn up bags of cookies. This royally pisses me off. The first full bag of cookies he ate was this amazing almond cookie, aka the guy cookie. I was extremely happy to get another batch of these amazing cookies from mouse. I had one and thought i could stretch the love of these for a few days, so I closed the bag. So last night when I called barb to come and help me bring laundry up to our unit, phog struck. He jumped onto our computer desk and and grabbed the cookies. Barb only left to help me for about 5 minutes, so he had to know what he was doing. When barb arrived back to the unit, she found a torn up plastic bag and powder sugar and crumbs all over phogs face. He was a happy dog until he was forced to spend the remainder of the evening on the tile with no human contact, dinner or treats. We thought he had learned his lesson.

Well today, right before I left to take barb to her team dinner for work, I had one of the moist oatmeal raison cookies I have ever eaten. Our friend Terri's little sister made them for us, and boy were they being enjoyed. Well i put the bag of cookies in the middle of our coffee table underneath a plastic container of other cookies, and a bunch of other things. So when I came home phog was lying on his bed and gave me his "I'm sorry, I'm a bad dog" look. So right away, I searched the unit and found another torn up bag of cookies. I confronted phog and once again he gave me his "I'm sorry" look. But this time the punishment needs to be worse then being confined to the tile area. So this time, I cleared out his crate which has turned into his toy chest. And that is where he has been since 7 and where he will stay until we take him out at 11.

This wouldn't have been such a big deal if phog had eaten the cookies i wasn't to fond of. But come the heck on. I'm at the point where i am about to stuff all of Leahs moms cookies in my mouth so the dog can't get to them.

Ironman Coaching

So barb and I met with maurice tonight who is going to coach us through the Kansas half and the Louisville full ironman. It was pretty exciting. We talked about what we have done, what we are doing, which class we need to take. All I could think about was "Am I really going to do this?"Followed by "What the f#*k am I thinking!" But it will be ok. So in a little over three weeks, its going to begin. A new unchartered territory for us. Wish us luck!
