Titanic is Rusty
Well kids, today I just wanna say that the titanic is rusty, very very rusty. Today barb and I went back to the YMCA and tried to swim again. Barb did pretty well, but me, hey, I gave it an honorable shot. Once we got there we had to wait for awhile for some swim classes to finish. So barb and I hung around the hot tub for awhile. Once a lane opened up, we went on our way. The first 75 yards went pretty well, but after that things got kinda interesting. I realized that my form was pretty bad and i wasn't able to fix it. Before i decide to go for a few refresher courses, i want to get use to swimming again. I was able to only do 8 laps, but hey thats better than nothing. I'm not gonna give up without a fight. Till the next time we meet.

Mike & The Titanic Similarity
Everyone, I have a question for all of you. What do mike (me) and the titanic both have in common? I do have boyish good looks like LEO, but thats not it. I promise I will let go, but its not that either. Think harder people. Well, I'll just tell you, we both sink!!!
Today, Barb and I took a tour of the new city YMCA and for the price and amenities, we signed up. When we were done signing up, barb and I thought it would be a good idea to check out the lakeview facility because they have an indoor track. When barb and I couldn't find parking and since we didn't know that we needed to purchase tokens to park in the parking lot, we decided to go back to new city.
Well, we put on our swim suits, and went to the pool. Barb and I both went into the medium speed lane. After a few seconds barb went on her way, and i shortly followed. At about 15 yards, i looked up and said am I there yet? Once i finished my first 25 yards, I was spent. I knew my 1st time back in the pool since the honeymoon wasn't gonna be the best, but i didn't think it was going to be that bad. After awhile of swimming, i felt like i was going absolutely no where. It was that bad. I gotta keep my head in the water and try and keep my body more horizontal in the water. Barb and I even tried the kick board and i completely sucked at that to. Ok, let me correct myself. I sucked at swimming, not barb. She kicked my ass. She had this grin on her face the entire time which was basically saying, "i can't believe i'm kicking his ass."
I wonder if the swim marshalls will let me wear these cool babies i found...

They are safe, they are cool, they are manly, they are SPIDERMAN!!! Its not like i would be asking for a lot.
Anyways, I'm gonna stay positive about the whole thing. I'm gonna tri, get it tri. Ok i'm turning hookie. Till tomorrows adventures, God have mercy on my soul.

An open memo to sports fans (both of the real nature and the wanna be kind...)
In case you didn't get the memo the first time, consider this your "warning" (for lack of a better word).
As you know, Running Jayhawk and I are avid Kansas Basketball fans. We appreciate a good game, even when we lose (like today's game against TTU--did you see that 11-2 run to tie with 3 minutes left in the game?? yeah--I didn't think so) and are quite knowledgable about our team, college hoops in general, and the beautiful sport that is basketball.
And while we certainly can take the shit and dish the shit respectively, we don't take too kindly to blantant and obnoxious blabbering from the school yard. Yeah. We lost. You can argue the big men didn't show up to play, foul trouble, and the fact that Dora was a beast. Fine. Call us out on that. Don't parade around with the "You Suck...You Lost...Neener Neener Neener..." bullshit. Because you know what? We don't suck. We have a great basketball team...a legendary program...and a solid--and more importantly--young, talented team (which, I will add, is also a disadvantage because it means for inconsistency). Nevertheless, Kansas is a team that could potentially make a run for the title this year. So take that violin and well...to put it politely, stick it where the sun don't shine.
Now...logistically speaking...who gets bragging and shit-talking rights?
A ranked Kansas basketball team with a 16-3 record, or Colorado, with the ever-impressive 5-10 season? Heck, I'll even throw in the Gophers with their even more notable 7-12 year to date. And while we're on the topic of great sports teams...what about those Bears?!? Headed to play in the NFC championship game tomorrow...and last I checked...those Vikings are sitting at home eating chips & dip. Mmm....sad times for them.
But hey...the proof is in the numbers. People can talk all the trash they want. But if they don't have the numbers to back up their bologne, then really, they should stuff their mouth with a fist full of peeps.
Now...any other top-ranked teams out there want to chime in and shoot the shit, both Jayhawk and I are game--you've earned it. Heck, we actually welcome a fun, well thought out, challenge of witty banter during basketball season from college fans who've earned that right from their alma mater/favorite team they follow closely. Hell, I'd love to hear from some DePaul fans on that one...they've got a good team...they beat us and we look forward to watching your performance in the Big Dance!
I'm secretly hoping that this post will spark one of the Krazies, a Gator, Bruin, Badger, Buckeye, or even a Longhorn comes out of the woodwork for a fun volley of intelligent team criticism. And yes, both Barb and I are both fully capable of being critical of our own team...so don't go thinking we can't dish it on ourselves.
So sportsfans (and even "bandwagoners"), if you've got the means to back that shit up...lets chat! :) Until then, I bite my thumb at any feeble attempt to talk the talk when your team clearly isn't walking the walk. It's annoying. So knock it off.
Oh...and Firefly...we'll gladly return the violin to its rightful owner as your team crosses its fingers in desperate hopes of making it to the NIT..and how the hell did your beloved buffs lose to Nebraska today? The Cornhuskers? Seriously? Oooh yeah...I remember now...you don't have an offensive game, cause if you did, there would've been more than 13 points in the first half...[enter intelligent banter here].

My New Baby
After a crap ton of research on different bikes, Barb and I both finally got bikes yesterday, well kind of. We will pick them up on saturday at Kozy's. We are pretty excited, especially because of everything i have read about all the different bikes out there. Thank god for a patient salesman, Luis at Kozy's in river north was amazing. He was very patient and knowledgable, especially with barb. I got a Cannondale R800. She is a beauty. She will be my new friend as I start to prepare for my 1st triathlon which is yet to be decided. If any of you have any recommendations for a good 1st tri let me know. Anyways here is a picture of her. I have a recap post coming soon.
