Nike Run Hit Remix

The night before Barb and I left for Kansas City, we took part in the Nike Run Hit Remix with Taylor and Christine. Before we left we took some glamour shots at the condo.

Of course, mine turned out amazing, but chris looks constipated, must be 1st run gitters. This was christine's first race ever!!!

We got to the race, and the atmosphere was amazing. Tons of people were there, and the city looked amazing. I especially loved how only 90's music was played. One of the weirdest parts of the pre-race was running into some people I went to grammer school and high school with.

Well, the race started and all was going pretty well. Well, until the traffic jam for about a quarter of a mile. We played the red light, green light game. But it opened up and we went on our way. Since it was chris's 1st race, I ran with her. It was a lot of fun. We would run/ and walk to the bands and listen for awhile, then head on our way. The race was a blast. Even though at times, I had to push chris, she did an awesome job. We ended up finishing the run in 1:13:53. I am also really glad that my ITband didn't act up. Great job Ta, Chris, and Barb.

Chicago Distance Classic Race Report

(Sorry this post has taken so long, barb and I have just gotten back from KC, and I have been so unmotivated to do anything)
So I ran my 1st half marathon and boy my knee hurts. I finished it in 2:19:59. I was really happy to get it under 2:20. Yeah, you read me, 1 second. So the day started off unlike any other day, us sleeping through our alarm and scrambling to make it on time. Well we made it on time, thank god. So I lined up with the 2:15 pace group, well actually right in front of the 2:30 group, but still behind the 2:15 group. I was pretty darn relaxed and in a zone before the race began. Once the race began, things went pretty well. I had my ipod on and I was rocking. At one point, I realized I was running behind a group of TNT runners (Tovah, Bari, Bernadette, and katie). I realized it was kinda nice to run with a group of people. They really kept me motivated.

I loved running along the shamrock shuffle course, but I knew once I hit LSD things would go south. And of course it did. By mile 11 my knee really started to kill me and of course, I forgot my knee brace at home. It basically felt like it was going to give out. If I stopped, then I knew all would be lost and I wouldn't be able to finish, so I pushed along. I really hated the last 2.1 miles. I was so freakin tired, and my knee kept getting worse. I got really pissed when I realized that with only a half mile left of the half, I had looked down at my garmin to see that I had already run 13.4. I freakin already ran the half, and only wanted it to end. The last .1 was great, and I was so excited to finish. Once I crossed the finish line, I changed from active guy to "oh shit my knee really hurts and I gotta limp to find my wife" guy.

Once I crossed the finish line I couldn't move. I grabbed my medal, and a quick bite to eat. For the rest of the day, I was basically on old man. Barb had to help me get on and off of the bed, and the couch. I couldn't do anything without being in horrible pain. That night, ever time I shift in bed, I woke up in pain, which really sucked. The best thing about being a future chiropractor, is that I already knew what was wrong when it started. It was my freakin I.T. band which is a common injury. But thank god, I was able to take care of it. Would I do it again, HELL YA!

I got really pissed when I had to continue to study for my 2 finals that I had left. Now that I am finally on break and now that I have all of my grades in, I can tell you all that I did awesome on my finals. The one I was worried about, I ended up getting a 89 in the class, which pisses me off just a little because I was 1 point away from an A. But oh well, what can you do. I will have more to post about the Nike Hit Remix, Kansas City and the rest of my adventures tomorrow.

Night Before CDC & Finals

Well, its the night before my 1st half marathon (Chicago Distance Classic) ever and I'm pretty excited and nervous. Well, I'm not nervous for the half marathon, because i know I can do it. I'm just really freakin excited for that. The only thing I am nervous about is my final on tuesday, which is an essay test. I suck at essay tests. I have currently finished 6 out of 9 finals and so far the out come has been good. I have gotten 1 A, 1 pass, 3 B's and an unknown. I can't wait till this trimester is over with. It is also going to be basically the end of real tests at my school. Once these tests are done, I will be in my senior seminar which includes business and marketing classes. Then I will be in clinic for about a year. Its really nice to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Once these exams are over, I will get 2 and a half weeks off and I am totally going to relax, and enjoy myself. Oh yeah, I am also going to catch up on my training. Other than school, i am patiently awaiting for my 1st half marathon. So its time to go relax, because 5:15 will come soon. Good luck to all who will be running the CDC tomorrow. Lets kick some ass.
